Some of Gopal Baba words about the Avatar of Sathya Sai Baba:
It is a blessing to live in this time and age
Now we are very lucky to have the greatest Avatar amongst us, Lord Sai Krishna. Dear devotees do not miss this great opportunity as you may not get this avatar again. You sing His glory, yearn for Him and follow His principles. Each and every one of you should become His reflection. How to do that? When you keep your heart pure with divine Love, the Lord will start reflecting in you and His Sankalp, to bind this world with Universal Love, will be easy.
Sai Baba is all powerful
I am not dependent on anyone of you. I can materialize whatever I want in order to fulfil the purpose for which I have incarnated.
I want you to understand this. If you think that you are the devotees, disciples and followers of Sai Baba and forget to practice the values and the principles given to us by Him you have missed the path.
Sai Baba like Sri Ramachandra is all powerful. Sri Ramachandra was assisted by an army of monkeys. Not a single monkey ever thought that he was helping Sri Rama. The monkeys thought that it was a great opportunity given by Sri Rama to be in his company and to participate in the work allotted to them.
I want you to remember this. God has given us an opportunity. He has given us an opportunity to work with Him.
I have got my work to do and I am interested in the continuation and the spread of the work which I have taken upon myself.
No one can obstruct the work that Sathya Sai Baba has undertaken. Who are we, after all, to object to, or to retard the progress of such work? It is not possible for any human being to be a stumbling block which retards the progress of Sathya Sai Baba’s work.
If we do any work in the name of God it is for our own personal upliftment. It is not for anyone else. What does God want? He is the totality. He does not yearn for anything. We go to God for our own progress. It is for this purpose that we participate in the work that He has entrusted to us. If we offer some food to God we must remember that it is God who feeds the entire world. If we wave lamps before him we must remember that it is He, who illuminates the whole world.
What can we give Him? He has no form. He is the energy that resides in every being. He is embodied in those who are hungry, in those who are diseased, in those who are stricken with misery and poverty. God presents himself in such forms.
That’s why Swami insists on doing seva – service to mankind, service to society. That’s why Sathya Sai Baba has said, “If you want to be a good devotee in this Kali Yuga, all that you have to do is to help mankind and the society in which you find yourself.”
While doing service you may become tired and your mind may become distracted. You may then begin to utter things which are detrimental to your own physical and mental health. To avoid such an eventuality, substitute any negativity with the word Rama or Bhagavatha the moment it arises. The name of the Lord will have an instant curative effect on your service.
At all times you should carry the name of the Lord on your tongue. Both of your hands should be engaged in the service of mankind. The words that come out of your mouth must be pleasant and must be very dear to the ones to whom they are addressed. Your words must be like precious rubies, diamonds, and pearls. With such words you must fill the stomachs of those who are in need. You must wipe the tears of those who are distressed. Help those who cannot help themselves.
Without being involved in service to mankind you cannot dream of happiness. You cannot dream of peace.
I am without wealth. I have no special skills. How can a simple person like me do all the things you see here? It is because Sathya Sai Baba is in me and He is motivating you to partake in the activities here.
Don’t waste time. Don’t waste money and resources. Don’t waste food. If you neglect these three principles your life will be fruitless. This is invaluable advice. Please take note of it and put it into practice. I never throw away left over food. I convert left over food from today into some other dish and eat it the next day.
Egoism and deceit destroy a person. We should be very careful in everything we do. Those who work for the Lord should not throw away money or it spend imprudently. Whatever you see here belongs to Baba. All wealth belongs to God. God is all powerful. I am a servant at Baba’s feet.
Whatever happens here, whatever has happened and whatever will happen in the future is exclusively due to the inspiration that I have derived from Him.
I am like a clear mirror. You see whatever you are in the reflection of this mirror.
Baba talks about ‘reaction, reflection, resound.’ You get what you deserve. You see what you are. You hear what you mutter within yourself.
Become an immortal being
Sai Baba has come to this world to make you all immortal, not to continue to remain bound to death.
For that kind of Lord we are celebrating His 85th birthday. It is 20 years since Baba visited this place and handed me the Chandra Mouleshwara lingam.
Swami has given this lingam not for my sake; my Chandra Mouleshwara is the Lord Himself.
He has given His own Atma Lingam for the benefit of mankind.
The reason why this Atma lingam resides here is to make each and every one of you understand your real self.
That which gives Ananda everywhere, is beautiful.
That is Sathya Shiva Sundara; that is the Lord Himself, Sathya Sai Baba.
This is a holy place. In 1986 Baba asked me to come here and in 1991 it actually happened. Since then Baba is here and all Baba’s activities are radiating from this place.
Everything here, even the smallest molecule is Baba.
Those who enter here, please drop your ego at the doorstep and enter only then.
Who are we, before the mighty Lord, to demonstrate and show our ego?
When the Sanathana Dharma took a swing downwards, Baba has taken birth.
He has demonstrated that we are all one. No cast, no religion, only one God.
We have too many communities and religions; we have far too many Gods.
We hate and we are jealous of each other.
Bhagawan has taken birth to make us understand that we are all one, to spread this message to the world and to make the whole world live in peace.
To make auspicious things prevail all over the world, Bhagawan has taken birth and descended here.
In that, you all have a role to play.
Each of you must establish love in your heart; do the work of Sathya Sai in that manner.
Nothing can be done here without Sathya Sai Baba’s sankalpa.
Come with a heart that is pure and free. This is the Lord’s given opportunity to each of you.
Turn your mind towards the Lord.
The things you have to give to the Lord are not the flowers that fades or the fruit that is corrupted tomorrow morning. Deliver to the Lord your own love.
“Let’s all live together cooperatively.
Let’s all work towards the welfare of the whole world.
Let there be peace and prosperity in every part of the world.”
Every heart should be full of goodness and good intention.
Let’s all live together cooperatively.
Let’s all work towards the welfare of the whole world.
Let there be peace and prosperity in every part of the world.
The way to merge with divinity
Lord Sai is catching hold of every singular individual in this world full of ignorance and guides him to the goal of deliverance. But we are not wiling even to stretch our hands and respond to the hand stretched out to us.
He is within everyone. He resides in everyone’s heart. The one who hungers, the one who wants the guidance of a guru… In that persons heart the Satguru’s presence is awakened. He gives us direction.
Because all the merit we have accumulated we are contemporaries of Sathya Sai Baba and Sathya Sai Baba – like a true Guru – takes our hand and leads us step by step to the goal. Use your sacred life in the sacred way that is shown to us by Sathya Sai Baba, to reach Paramatma and be one with Him. You are born as human beings please take care to live as a human being and then rise into divinity.
Gopal Baba about the exemplary lives of the Great Souls.
In the life of Jesus, we see right from his childhood the spirit of self-sacrifice. The mahatmas, the saints, and all great men teach by example. They refrain from speaking. They prefer to put their message into practice and make their own lives exemplary.
In the life of Jesus we can’t find even a speck of selfishness. He said, “I’m only a son of God. I am not God. Everything is the sport of the Divine.” Of course we worship him as the very embodiment of God. To say that I am the son of God is in itself an expression of divinity. When father and son become one, the stage of Advaita (non dualism) has been attained.
The mahatmas lead exemplary lives in order to demonstrate the ideal way to live. They do this so that we can follow their example and inculcate these ideals into our daily activities.
Swami reveals to us parts of His tasks in Baba’s mission.
Total commitment to Sathya Sai Baba
Baba said, ‘You settle down here in Girinagar.’ In those days Girinagar was very isolated. There were no buses, shops, and so forth. There were only a few houses scattered here and there. But it was Baba’s sankalpa (divine wish). Baba firmly told me that I was not to go anywhere else. There were many devotees in Chikkaballapur (where I wanted to start at first) who asked me, ‘Swamy, when are you starting the ashram?’ But My Swamy had ordered me to settle here. Now, when I see this place, I am really amazed about the development that has taken place. All because of His sankalpa.
I will never go against the divine wish of my Swami. I will even jump into a river or jump from a cliff if my Swami says to do so. His wish is my wish. .
I started a small temple and lived here with my elderly parents. Baba is always present here. Baba’s presence here has made this place Divine. Lakhs of people have obtained solace and peace here. This place has set an example. Seeing this makes me feel very happy. If Baba were to ask me, ‘What work of mine have you done?’ I would tell Him, ‘Swami, I have done your work. You asked me for 100 % but I have given 150 % effort in Your work.’ This, I can say with full confidence. I see Baba’s blessing in all the work.
What is His real blessing? It is detachment from all these material things. Baba’s real blessing is not in giving one a house or a car. Nor is it in giving one a family or children, and so on. Baba blesses a person by giving him a sense of detachment towards all these worldly things. He blesses us by showing us that Brahma alone is the truth, and that all these worldly things are but an illusion.
Even though I am surrounded by all these things, I remain detached from it. I feel like I am living in someone else’s house. All these things are not mine. Everything is Baba’s. I have neither gone to work nor have I asked anyone to provide these things. How did all this come about? Baba Himself, through His sankalpa, has established this hospital, this temple and everything else here for the welfare of the society. Baba has done this and I am just an instrument.
You should also pray to God; ‘Oh Lord, give me a sense of detachment. Give my mind the strength to remain always at Your lotus feet.’ You may ask for all the worldly things, but one day you will have to leave everything behind. These things will never give you peace of mind and happiness. One may feel that if he has all these worldly things he may get happiness, but one will never get peace of mind from all these things.
My work is my message
Gopal Baba, October 7th 2002
I follow Bhagawan Baba’s preaching’s for 100 %. I do not make a show; I work hard and do karma yoga.
Do not involve yourselves in criticising, blaming, and demeaning others. Talking ill of others is wrong and is a sin.We say we want peace and go on searching for it outside. Peace is here, within ourselves. This peace is lost when you find faults in others. Stop talking ill of others and you will surely experience peace. Baba tells us that the mind is the cause of all that happens to us. Keep the mind clear and clean. Don’t make it a dustbin but fill the mind with the gems that Baba gives in His messages; follow them and practise them
The GKS was primarily started by Pankaj Fozdar as ‘Gopala Krishna Swami Sathsang’. I told Pankaj not to use my name, for I wanted to be only behind the scene. I explained what the letters GKS signify: ‘G’ is Ganga is Jnana or Knowlegde, ‘K’ is Kaveri or Karma. When Jnana and Karma unite it becomes a Sangam (confluence).
It is this GKS principle that we have to imbibe and follow in our daily lines.
This Swami (pointing to himself) does not like to simply sit and idle away time. I do not like meditation and tapas (stern discipline). I believe in Karma and so I practise Karma Yoga – do Karma filled with Jnana. What is the use of closing your eyes and sitting idle? You do two minutes of meditation and then your attention goes to the road; so what is the use? When you have no control over the mind, what is the use of sitting with your eyes closed? Do work, do not be lazy.
Bharat will develop and prosper through our practising Karma Yoga. Lakshmi installs herself when you have the intensity to do work and involve yourself in doing your duty. Fortune favours the brave and courageous. Lakshmi doesn’t like laziness. Lakshmi does not mean only wealth. Knowledge, education, health and progeny – everything signifies Lakshmi. Lakshmi is called ‘Astalakshmi’ in our scriptures. Astalakshmi signifies enthusiasm to do work, is brave, active and full of live.
